The National Merchant Marine Aptitude Test (NaMMAT) is a requirement by the government for students who want to enroll in the maritime program. The NaMMAT was first administered to enrollees of AY 2026-2027. For AY2027-2028, you are advised to monitor the NaMMAT schedules and testing sites.
Please take note that you are still required to take the NTMA Entrance Exam.
Senior high school students expecting to graduate at the end of SY 2026–2027, senior high school graduates from previous years, or college students enrolled in CHED-accredited institutions. Applicants must be Filipino, single, and not more than 22 years old by June 2027.
Complete the online application form, print it, and bring it to your preferred test venue together with a valid ID with photo. Exam venues and schedules are posted on NTMA’s website and official Facebook page.
No. The NTMA Entrance Examination (NTMAEE) is free of charge.
The NTMAEE includes IQ and aptitude tests, Mathematics (Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry), English (Grammar, Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension), and Science (General Science, Chemistry, Physics).
Exams are held face-to-face in selected areas nationwide. Choose the nearest testing area and register early. Online exams are available in limited slots.

Yes. walk-ins are allowed on exam day. However, you must still create and submit an online application form afterwards.
Successful examinees proceed to the next stage: an interview on the same day.
The next stages include pre-enrollment briefing, medical and psychological tests, and submission of required documents.
Yes. The NaMMAT is a requirement by the government for students who want to enroll in the maritime program. It is separate and different from the NTMA Entrance Exam.
Prepare photocopy of the following documents:
i. PSA-issued Birth certificate
ii. Vaccination Records (with dates) of the following:
a. Proof of Hepa B vaccine (3 shots, in proper intervals, i.e., 0, 1, 6 mos.)
b. Proof of Measles / MMR vaccine
c. Proof of Varicella vaccine (2 doses [at least 4 weeks apart], if not yet infected) or proof of immunity (if previously infected)
Original documents of the following will be required once you are qualified to enroll:
- PSA Birth Certificate
- Certificate of Candidate for Graduation or Original Copy of Report Card (Form 138), for SHS Graduate
- Original Transfer Credentials, if with College Background
Applicants must be medically fit, not color-blind, and free from conditions that may interfere with shipboard life, such as bronchial asthma and allergic rhinitis. Corrective eyeglasses are allowed, but vision must be 20/20 when corrected.
NTMA’s SNPL Program allows cadets to study without paying tuition, board, and lodging fees while in the Academy. Repayment begins only after deployment as an officer onboard an NYK vessel.
You may reapply the following year, provided you are still within the age limit.
